What are Backups?

Backups are scheduled copies of your virtual machine (VM) data, created to protect against data loss, accidental deletion, software failures, or security incidents. They serve as a critical part of your disaster recovery strategy.

The Webberstop Cloud Portal provides automated backup options that can be configured to run daily, weekly, or on a custom schedule—ensuring your environment can be restored quickly in case of an issue.

Backups reduce downtime and allow you to restore your instance to a known good state with minimal effort.

Creating a Backup

To create a backup through the Webberstop Cloud Portal:

  1. Navigate to the Backups section from the portal sidebar.

  2. Click the ➕ plus icon at the top right to open the backup creation wizard.

  3. Complete the form with the following details:

    • Project: Select the project under which the backup will be created.
    • Datacenter Location: Choose the zone where the backup will be stored.
    • Instance: Select the VM to back up.
    • Interval: Choose how often the backup should occur (e.g., daily, weekly).
    • Schedule: Define the specific time or day for the backup to run.
    • Billing Cycle: Select Hourly, Monthly, or Yearly billing.
  4. Click Review & Create Backup to complete the process.

Once created, the system will automatically run backups according to your configured schedule.

Managing Your Backups

After backups are created, you can manage them from the Backups section:

  • View current and historical backups
  • Restore an instance to a previous state with one click
  • Delete unused or outdated backups to free up resources

Managing backups is seamless and provides the confidence needed for production systems and critical workloads.

tip

It's recommended to schedule regular backups for all production instances, especially before major updates or deployments.
